In the fall of 1992, Marc Jacobs inspired and redefined the fashion world with his grunge-inspired collection for Perry Ellis. (Take a look at this video to see how ahead of his time Marc was. http://www.marcjacobs.com/world-of-marc-jacobs/detail/31771f68-3bde-42e4-83dd-75eb7310bb19). Since then, everyone from the Olsen twins, to Vanessa Hudgens and Kylie Jenner to a large majority of L.A. and New York City have fallen in love with grungey street style.
And why wouldn’t they? You can roll out of bed, throw your hair up or shove it in a hat, pull on some flannel and call it a day. Not to mention that it is incredibly affordable and practical. The key to pulling off this look that is now too commonly associated with hipsters is confidence. You don’t need to be a hater of the mainstream or listen to indie rock to look great in grunge but you do not need have confidence and an attitude of “I don’t care what people think.” So I suggest you embrace this trend, because since 1992, it hasn’t gone anywhere and won’t be going anywhere for a very, very long time.
