Keeping up with Kendall Jenner

Although I shamelessly watch KUWTK and often find myself pondering why they are so famous, there is no question when it comes to Kendall. It seems like just yesterday that the Kardashians were in their fourth season and Kendall presented her mom with a photo album of pictures she put together as a modeling portfolio. At the age of fourteen she signed with Wilhelmina modelling agency. Her first modeling job was a campaign for Forever 21. She has done photo shoots with OK! magazine, Teen Vogue, and photographer Nick Saglimbeni. She has also modeled for the Sherri Hill dress line, which specializes in dresses for proms and pageants. She then pursued runway by modeling for the official Hello Kitty Launch for Forever 21 in Los Angeles. This spring, Kendall has modeled for Marc Jacobs, Givenchy, and Chanel, risen into the ranks as a high-fashion model, and is deemed fashion’s newest ‘It Girl’.

But what has made Kendall so successful is most definitely not her last name. Because trust me, her name alone wouldn’t help her in the industry. Sure, part of her success has come from her strategic use of the Kardashian connections to get work, but she has not let it take over her own image. In fact, she is even willing to take risks to separate herself from her last name . For example, she wasn’t afraid to bleach her eyebrows, put on a wig, and wear a sheer shirt all for the Marc Jacobs show! Even The New York Timesrecognizes that she is more than qualified for the position she is gaining in the industry. In June 2013, The New York Times outlined her better qualities saying:

She is taking her modeling seriously. The plot twist is that unlike other celebrity/aspiring models, Ms. Jenner actually has the raw material. She has big doe eyes, shiny dark hair and full lips. She is 5 feet 10 inches, very slender and very leggy. She has a real shot, even without her family connections.

So if you don’t believe me, believe the Times. I cannot wait to see what Kendall has in store for the fashion world in the years to come.

And here’s a look at Kendall’s career thus far.
